Different types of garage doors available include:
Steel garage doors
Steel garage doors are perhaps the most common type of garage door seen today. They are made with two layers of galvanized steel and can be painted to match the color of your home. There are a few kinds of different steel doors available:
• Steel raised panel-Composed of steel and contains raised panels for décor. Most common and basic type of steel garage door.
• Steel foam in place-Similar to the basic steel raised panel door, but provides insulation with foam placed between the two layers of steel.
• Steel carriage style-Carriage style doors are perfect for those who love the old, antique look. They are designed to look like swinging doors, which open out rather than rolling up overhead, and were common of carriage houses of the colonial times.
• Steel overlays-Steel overlay garage doors just give you more customization options. The overlays of the color and style of your choosing are placed on top of the steel garage door, creating depth and contrast.
Wood garage doors
If you don’t like steel and would rather have your garage door made out of a different material, you should look into a wooden garage door. There are also a few different types of wooden garage doors available:
• Flat panel-Flat panels provide the most options in size and design and can be made with either hardboard panels or plywood panels.
• Cladwood panel-Similar to the flat panel, but uses an extremely durable and weatherproof panel. Size options are limited however, due to the way it must be constructed.
• Cedar raised panel-With a cedar raised panel garage door, customizability options are almost endless. The perfect garage door for those who want something completely unique.
• Flush rough sawn-Due to the plain face of this panel, custom overlay application is made easy. This garage door also has great insulating abilities.
